HISTORY:
Written by Vicky & Christy:
The historic Brady Theatre has been Tulsa’s leading venue for quality entertainment and events since 1914. The rich history of the building and the list of famous entertainers over the past 70 years seems endless.  From Al Jolson to U2!!  This former vaudeville house was built in 1914 and has served several
generations of Tulsans and people from all over the Southwest. The 2,800 seat theatre can be transformed into a 2,500 seat cabaret style venue offering an informal and intimate entertainment experience. It was rescued from the wrecking ball a few years ago from the City of Tulsa and has
undergone renovation over the past few years. The Brady Theater boasts of impeccable acoustics, superior sightlines and Richardsonian architecture.

Built in 1914, the Brady Theater was and still is one of the most famous theaters in Oklahoma. The theater has a large history, and in 1921, it was in the very center of one of the most violent massacres in the USA, the Tulsa Race Riots. Many people were killed, around the theater, and possible inside the theater. The theater is also rumored to have been used as a morgue during this time.   The theater is also supposedly haunted by famous opera singer Enrico Carusa who died from an illness. It is said that he blames Oklahoma weather for his illness, and haunts the Brady in revenge.  Security guards, workers, and other people that have been to this theater have reported unexplainable phenomena such as lights turning off and on by themselves.  It is also reported that before every major show, some unexplainable equipment failure occurred that delays the show.

As an OPRA event, members will be listed by group affiliation.
